If everything goes to plan I am hoping to have flatwork lessons over winter. I do not need anyone who can travel to me as it will help horse if she can get out and go away to other places for lessons. (she needs to sus out being off yard is a good thing) But I have no idea who to get lessons off and wondered if you guys had any suggestions of who in the Edinburgh and Lothian area are good for flatwork lessons.

Thanks for helping guys :)

Hey! :) I get flatwork lessons from Linda Penman, which I have found really helpful, she teaches all levels and abilities. She is regularly out at EEC (Dalkeith Park) on a Tues afternoon if that is of interest to you? More details here. She also teaches for my RC (Almond) and our winter training is at SNEC, with lessons on a Fri evening weekly through the winter (flatwork and jumping) and monthly club days/shows/training. :)

Full list of instructors at EEC here, I've had a few jump lessons from Les and he is great. :)

hi, theres quite a few people who you would be able to get lessons from, sandra morrison is doing winter training at samuleston livery yard near haddington over the winter, once a fortnight, i think its group lessons though with the possibility of individual, she's a good instructor, does like the BHS way of teaching and does know how to get the rider thinking. If you want more information take a look on the north lammermuir riding club website

Also as FigJam says, there is EEC as well, you can travel there for lessons with any of the instructors listed on their website, i highly recommend lisa hiddleston and linda penman, they have both helped me turn taz into a reasonably well schooled horse, from his cart horse state.

Have seen Kim Boxer, Pam Gray and Kay Grant teach, and find that they work well with their clients and have put some of the things that they have said into practice and it works, and have seen their clients get good results. There are also many places about that you can hire the arena if you find an instructor that you like to have a lesson somewhere else

Hope this helps, have just noticed how long it is...oops :)

I've had flatwork lessons from Debbie Bridges, she's really good. Picks up very subtle nuances, she has a good eye. She's at Forth (West Lothian) and has a big indoor school, a massive bonus as I've had lessons at least half a dozen times that I'd have had to cancel otherwise.

Sidewood dressage if you are googling.

Have to disagree with TPO i didn't get on with Fiona Flynn's way of teaching but her sister Ann who is also at Houston is fantastic. I've been having side saddle lessons with her and she has done my confidence so much good

Lee McKendry - 100% good friend of mine and a very good teacher. I also teach aswell but probably not so much at higher levels. Pm me if you'd like lees number - there are pictures of her riding on Facebook if you have access to it : )

Sandra Morrison is doing lessons over the winter at Samuelston livery yard in their indoor school. There was a note put up at our yard with a list of dates.

Thank you guys for the recommendations. Will get in touch with a few of you guys for numbers.
But as things stand I won't be needing the lessons anytime soon after the bloods that were just taken. She has been poorly over summer and has been fine and just took bloods to make sure everything has settled down. Unfortunetly we never got the resutls that we were after so we have had to reduce her work load and she will be getting a biopsy done in the near future.

2nd Debbie, she rides a friends of mine horse at competitions and always does really well.

Sorry to hear that hope everything gets better and you can get her back into work, another I would recommend for when you get back in work would be Stuart Walker at Bathgate, indoor and outdoor school, but can be a but tricky in winter with the snow (but then again in the snow where isn't!!!)

whereabouts is Lee Mckendry based? does she have her own yard?

Can highly recommend Sandra Morrison. Teaches all sorts of horse and rider at all levels and always seems to be able to help you find the key. Lessons are fun too! Highly popular in our riding club.
