Could anyone recommend a good jumping instructor local to SL?

I am booked on the Feb eventers weekend and as I am driving down on the Friday anyway I thought I would squeeze an extra lesson in. But, the instructors don't arrive until the Saturday so it needs to be someone local.

I don't really know of anyone down that way so a recommendation from people on here would be great. No shouty, aggressive instructors though please!

Any particular reason you wouldn't recommend Isobel?

Neither Steven Hadley nor Pat Burgess are particularly local, also I'm not a massive PB fan although I know most people rave about her. Not sure my young horse would cope with the huge onslaught of poles she like to use either!

They don't have to be big name trainers, just someone good and sensible.

SJ - do you know Isobel? I know you are (sort of!) down that way?

i dont have anything against her way of teaching, just dont think shes got vast experience. Not too keen on how she rides either but i guess its just personal opinion

Nothing wrong with isobel in my opinion...just personal preference. You could try austin or kathrin o'connor not that far away.Number via their website.

I have had plenty lessons with austin and know isobel and kathrin well

My personal recommendation would be Jo May who is based about 30 mins away but its whether she would travel.

Pepsi Kohler is based at Cannington which is down the road and is very good. I have had some great confidence building lessons and he changes one thing at a time. He is very matter of fact and a bit quirky but I always come out of my lessons pleased with how everything has gone.

Austin and Kathrin are both v.good- Kathrin is very good on the flat and obviously Austin is good with jumping!

no shouting from either of them (imo)

If you contact Stockland Lovell they have a list of local qualified instructors they can let you have. Why not ring a few up and find one that suits you.
