But not pedigree! I couldn’t trace her lineage back more than her grandmother! Tis nonsense imho to call her pedigree. And an easy way to charge more money.
It’s not so much pedigree as recognised type/breed.
Premiums are rated on different factors, breed/type will be one of those factors as are claims. So they will look at how many/what type/cost of claims by breed/type.
Therefore breeds/types with more traditional likelihood (or from an insurance perspective, historical data proving a tendency) toward health issues will pay greater premiums and vice versa.
By capturing breed/type as accurately as possible that will assist with pricing for those breeds/types in future.
