Which insurance companies would you recommend as being best value for money in terms of reliability and low cost? I'm currently with SEIB but buying a 2nd horse so shopping around a bit.

I'd like to insure him for £4000, does anyone have experience of being able to insure for this amount on the basis of a 2 stage vetting or do most companies insist on a 5 stage?

I don't think you need a vets report for any horse valued at £4000 or under. If you don't need a vets report to insure, don't volunteer one as vets make note of sometimes quite minor things just to cover themselves - and insurance companies can exclude quite minor things - just to cover themselves!

NFU will cover £5000 with no vetting.

Edited to say that if you require LOU I think they all require a 5 stage.
