Hi there, we have got a new horse and want to have her insured. We used SEIB in the past but thankfully didn't have to claim so I don't know what they'd be like if we did have to claim. Been shopping around, the Horse & Hound site has come up with Rural and also AM Trust who seem reasonably priced but I've never heard of them? Have you got experience of them? Or, who would you recommend? Thanks in advance

yes currently with amtrust (~they're now called equicover after a management buy out), can definitely recommend having had to make a hefty claim and had no problems at all. :)

I have just changed to Am Trust this year too. When I called around for prices a couple of places were underwritten by them so I called them for a quote too.

I haven't had a claim but they were really helpful when I took the policy out and carefully explained my cover. They were cheaper than my previous insurers too. So far so good

No experience of Amtrust, but just had fantastic claim experience with Stoneways. They responded to agree claim within less than 24 hours after they got the vet report, and while I thought they would argue 2 separate claims and 2 excesses (so I had submitted 2 claim forms just in case) they only charged one excess. Fabulous service, so would be worth getting a quote from them I think.

I'm with rural. Claimed when pony decided to fall in the river and they paid the vet direct with no argument. They just phoned me about 4 weeks after the event - asked if he was ok and was there likely to be any more on the claim and paid out same day. No exclusions either. Was a bit nervy as neither me nor our vet had heard of them before but actually seem pretty good value.

That's interesting re Rural, because they are coming up cheapest on the Horse and Hound insurance comparison but I hadn't heard of them before. Hmm gives me something to think about now. Thank you.
