insurance claims and buying drugs online

Hi does anyone know if petplan will pay for drugs which are sorced from online pharmacies rather than through the vets? My mare is on steroids which i can get online much cheaper than our vets can. so in order to get best value for money i obviously want to get the drugs online but not sure if i can or not. I will call them in the morning but thought id ask on here first.

Not sure about Petplan but the NFU wouldn't let me when I asked about Metacam for my dog. I could get the bigger bottle online for the same price as the smaller one from the vet. Couldn't believe it when they said no.

Yes but I would check they are happy with it still (so you have it recorded that they agree!) and your vet will need to provide a letter saying he advised you to buy online as there is a substantial saving. Petplan will just want to know that 1) your vet has prescribed/recommended those drugs and 2) they are cheaper than what he can provide.
