Think more than now have excess & 10% of bill for all dogs, so check policy details.
I'm with NFU and they've been ok but is only 4k per condition per year cover, was going to switch to petplan for higher vet fees as vets tend to be happy to accept direct payment with them, but typically both dogs were ill before
we got round to it .

We're with Tesco and seem pretty good. Will be cancelling Brackens though as gone up to £36 pm :eek: due to her age. Tbh at her age I wouldn't risk putting her through surgery anyway.

Mines 73 a month with petplan and worth every penny. Easiest to claim with and vets are generally happy doing direct claims with them Xxx and although you said you wouldn't put your pet through surgery at that age carefreegirl my Lucy cost 4.2k on ct scans and blood transfusions to get a diagnosis, that was before 1.2k on surgery and I don't regret my decisions. When your faced with it I'm sure your'll think differently, I had the same thought as u before this happened xxxx

He's only 2 so age not a problem. I will have a look at pet plan and the others. I want at least 5k vets bills, some of them were 2k which isn't enough. Will have a shop about :)

Are E&L still awful? I only ask as I'd never heard of them until mentioning yesterday that my new horse is insured by horseinsurance.co.uk and someone going 'oh dear!' I've googled and been freaked out now!

She'll be 15 in June so I wouldn't put her through anything for a few extra months of life.

How old was your dog and what was wrong with her ? Hope she's well now :)

Ah, 15, that is a ripe old age bless her! Yeah your right at that age,i totally agree. I dropped my pet plan policy to 6k 2 months before she fell ill because i thought at her age would i put her through anything more that 6k! Then she fell ill, typical.

My Lucy is 9 but a large breed so a good age. She had a histocytic sarcoma (malignant cancer) of the spleen which metastasised to the hind leg. Shes doing really really well (touching wood) on steroids and had we not performed a splenectomy i suspect she would not have been here today xxx The reason it cost so much is she was actually presenting with anaemia and they suspected imune mediated haemolytic anaemia (IMHA). They found the hind limb mass on CT scan and biopsied it.This type of cancer can cause seconday IMHA. xxx
