Insurance company, does anyone use this one

I think we looked at them and didn't like them but cant remeber why!! With E&L at the moment theankfully haven't had to claim, but they seem good. Were with NFU but they messed us around a bit :/

Read your insurance with E&L very carefully, I wouldn’t touch them with a barge pole, and don’t know of anyone who would, the last policy I read from E&L said you are not covered if another animal is involved, so if a dog spooks your horse and your horse bolts of hurts someone because of it you were not covered. The same if another horse kicks your horse, its another animal so not covered.

Our yard even had a clause in their contract that all horses had to have insurance but not with E&L

If you check with older threads on this forum you will find more adverse criticism of E&L than any other company. I know that several Veterinary Clinics in my area consider you not to be insured if you are with E&L. They have a history of delayed payments or straight refusal to payout on claims wether it be for veterinary claims of theft claims.

horse-insurance.co.uk is E&L and personally I wouldn't ever insure with them (me and hundreds of others I suspect!!)

They are part of E & L, although after huge rises in my insurance last year I decided to go with Horse-Insurance.co.uk, shortly after my mare ripped her neck open and had to have emergency vet, £lots later I put my claim in and it was done and dusted with no problems or queries at all, so from my experience I can't compalin about them, they have always been extremely helpful when i've spoken to them on the phone.

I understand that E&L's reputation with vets has improved a little recently after they faced some challanges over their delays and refusals to pay (not that I would use them...)

Ive had a claim with E&L and they DID pay out within 2 weeks of recieving claim. They seem ok to me,no problems.Im with them, and I manage to get my premiums down too lol

They have inproved greatly. They aim to get claims sorted within 3 days of recieving them and I have to say they kept their word and they got my payment thru for me very quickly too, within 2 weeks.

How did you find that out?

Worked in equine insurance for 7 years so it was my business to know who's who. Lol! Plus, it says on the website that they are part of/underwritten by E&L. They may well be improving their service (they're going to have to cos most of the horse world know how awful they are!). I still wouldn't insure with them - they had a bad reputation over 20 years ago and remained awful so they've got some way to go before they're going to be trusted by the majority of horse owners as most people, at some point in their horse ownership will have had a bad experience with them
