I have been very lucky with my insurance claims in the past but am having a bit of a fight with this one.
I am with Animal Friends at the moment.
I've had a claim in for ashthma which has been going through okay re medication/vets visits. The policy renewed on the 31st July with exclusions but was half way through the claim year.

I have had to buy a Nebuliser in the first week of August in order to administer the medication provided by the vet and AF have rejected this claim.

I did ring them the week before I bought one to see if it was covered but didn't get a clear answer - was just told that they would decide when the claim went in, which was bonkers imo.
However, I went ahead and bought one, else I couldn't medicate him.

On looking at the policy documents, it now specifically states that I can't make a claim for a nebuliser, however, it never stated that beforehand in the documents when the claim actually started.
I feel that they can't just add an extra exclusion midway through a treatment period.

I have put in a complaint but wonder if anyone else had any words of wisdom to back up my case - or am I doomed !

So the policy you started your claim under doesn’t exclude it specifically but the renewal policy does?

In which case it’s probably worth your while challenging, stating that your claim is payable for the period of 12 months under the terms and conditions of the policy in force at the onset of the condition

Yes that’s it exactly.
