While in the proces of making a claim I read the small print of my policy. Under the heading general conditions ,amoungst other things it says that I must have my horses feet shod or trimmed by a registered farrier. So where does that leave people who use a trimmer or equine podiatrist. I use Stoneways.

It invalidates your cover in respect to a claim.
I see lots of this in my job and I have even known claims for seemingly un-related injuries (shoulder/back etc) be declined as the insurance have asked for a report from the farrier and when, unable to provide one (from a registered farrier), they have blamed the problem on the owner for failing to provide proper care!

Which insurance companies then impose this condition ? I use a farrier ,but a group of horses at the yard are trimmed by a podiatrist. I wonder if the owners have a clue that it may affect their insurance.
