As per title really..what does everyone pay roughly, and what vehicle do they tow with/age of driver etc.

Obviously I know it will vary between age groups/locations etc, but I am just curious, as I have had a company vehicle for the past 8 years, so completely out of the loop now with insurance costs.

4l Grand Cherokee, £300 fully comp, with 2 years ncd (I've got loads, but it's on my other car), parked on road overnight, alarm and immobilizer fitted, 3000 mile per annum.

Aged over 30, with clean licence, living in a low-risk area.

My Suzuki Grand Vitara T7 was £190 fully comp but with no courtesy car, breakdown or key replacement. Halifax was £318. I have 9 years no claim

Oh that's pretty reasonable then. What's the towing capacity on one of those?

I have only towed Ivor Williams with 16.2 Trakehner and caravan 11cwt un laden. Not good at working numbers out. It's a 2.2 diesel and very lumbering but towing does 25-30 mpg so I don't mind being slothful!! Took it to Portugal and back with caravan. Think it's a poor man's work horse though.

Thanks jenniedream. My mare is 16.3 (about 650kg) and I have an IW510.

I have a landrover defender 90 2.5 tdi
I was 21 when I insured & I had 1 years no claims
It cost me £590 which was for 15,000 miles a year as I do 40 mile round trips to work every day then also competing so I needed the extra miles. It would have cost me £365 if I had have gone for 6000 or 7000

It is nicknamed the tank & pulls like 1, doesn't even feel like I am towing (I only travel 1 horse)

I'm in a state of shock. The insurer we have used for the last ten years has decided to withdraw from motor insurance. Ever tried getting quotes for an 11 year old Discovery 7 seats, when you have had a claim for a total loss less than three months ago (woke up to find car missing from driveway)? Cheapest I can find now is £530 fully comp as I do need business cover. This is £200 more than I paid last year. And heaven help us when we start looking to cover OH's 110 as that is a 9 seater.

Why do insurers insist on putting in extras that I don't need or want, such as breakdown cover (which won't cover a trailer), a courtesy car that has neither enough seats nor a tow bar (so no use to me), insist that any repairs are carried out at a garage of their choice (and not by my trusted mechanic), personal accident cover (sorry, that's what the legal cover is for so that I can reclaim physio etc from the offending driver's insurer).

Just stop this and bring the price down for everyone!
