Yes, cant fault NFU. Paid out no problems every time and theres been a few massive vets claims!!
A few years ago I had a LOU claim ongoing for Ringbone, only to get to the stables one morning and find my poor mare with colic. Vet came and sadly my horse had to be PTS. NFU were contacted prior to this and they said they would pay for colic surgery (even though LOU being claimed) or they would pay for death, also paid for cremation costs.
Although it was a difficult time they were excellent no ifs or buts.

Equestrian Direct have never let me down through 2 major tragedies. They've just changed their underwriters but I don't expect anything to change. Customer service is excellent - they always go the extra mile.

Petplan paid out for a sarcoid removal within a week of getting the claim. Kissing spine surgery took 3 weeks but I think that was more down to my vets not filling in the forms so quick.

NFU are fab. My vets told me that Petplan are a bit difficult at the moment. They asked for a clinical history for some client's horse and because the vet had been out for a very mild case of colic months ago and given it a shot of Buscopan, anything colic related was excluded which seems a bit excessive.
