Im going to be having a horse on trial for a week but need to get her insured as i dont fancy a hefty vets bill if anything was to happen! Do insurance companies do insurance for such a small time or would i take out a yr and then cancel if i didnt keep a horse will there be a fee if i did this??!! So confused!

Most insurers only really cover on an annual basis and cover for just a week will be fairly costly.

Can't the owners of the horse just extend their policy to cover the time you have the horse on trial? That is the easiest thing to do and should not cost.

I dont think she is currently insured and i dont really want to risk taking her on trial without being covered

I think (though it was some time ago) that I insured mine via KBIS whilst I had him on trial for a week. Not sure how it was done but have a chat with them.

You are right you def need insurance, we got a mare on trial and she got kicked and had to go for surgery for an infection in the tendon sheath, nightmare.
We had insured her on a Sunday on the internet with E and L and two days later had to make a claim, ended up buying her, they paid out over 4 grand in full!! and for alternative therapy (hydrotherapy) but I'm sure there are more reliable companies then these.

If she is currently insured, then I would have thought her current owner should advise the insurance company she under your care at a different yard and their policy should cover her until money changes hands.

Not sure, but it might be worth checking it out before you take out a new policy?
