Does anyone know of brokers/insurers who will provide cover for coaches/instructors who are non BHS qualified? This would be for freelance teaching on people's own horses/ponies, at their venue/home by a Ride With Your Mind (Mary Wanless) TRAINEE coach.
Any suggestions??

hmmm the snotty woman in the NFU office said they "don't do that" and to try BHS - no good as I'm not BHS qualified (and never will be out of principle!! :p:p)
Spoke to SEIB and it's £265, which isn't bad, but prob well above what I would make from my occasional teaching throughout the year!!

Thanks - will try Shearwater now. SEIB wanted almost 1k if I were to teach carriage driving freelance too (ouch!).
Spoke to NFU - it can't be on H&R policy - has to be a separate business policy, and they are getting me a quote, the lady was very nice this time!! Likely to be expensive knowing NFU though...

Ah, that might be that, I have a farm business policy (and all our vehicles) with NFU. Although I think it also depends on the office, for example my local NFU had no qualms whatsoever about insuring horses as ''stock'' based on average market value  - it's not for vet fees or LOU, but my 5 horses are insured for combined value of £30K without a vetting or anything :D; an acquaintance of mine tried to do the same at another branch and 'computer said no'... Weird.

hmmmm we have a farm policy - wonder if mine could be stock too!!! but I'd want the vet fees.... I think its the office-to-office variability that produces NFU's uniquely frustrating ability to give low prices for some things, and refuse to insure them at others. Can't fault them for horsebox cover though.
Wonder if they will see carriage driving as an exceptionally high risk to coach too??? I wish...

Bingo! Shearwater is £230 and I can freelance coach riding and carriage driving on the same policy to my heart's content! Yippee!

***Scuttles off to find some willing students to practice on...***
