Does anyone have insurance that covers their liability to anyone being paid to ride their horse (eg instructor/trainer)? Who did you get it through. Note that basic public liability (at least the one from BHS ) does not cover this!!!

The person being paid to ride needs to have the insurance - not you! They should have instructors liability insurance if an instructor or care custody and control if a groom/rider.

as you are paying someone to ride/exercise/school your horse THEY need to have 3rd party liability, public liability and 3c liability. they are doing the riding for financial gain therefore any policy that you have will NOT cover them or the horse.

Not really, they are the professional so are the experienced party in the situation and should undertake a risk assessment before getting on. I turned down the opportunity to be someone else's crash test dummy on a horse they'd bought from the field last week as I wasn't happy with how the owner was describing the horse and how it had come to be left in a field in the first place. I don't expect you would lie to the rider about what the horse is likely to do so as long as they are aware of what particular risks your horse might pose you have given them all the information you have for them to make the decision to get on or not.
