I just rang my insurers for a renewal and my premium has gone up by 1000 a year! I have had no claims at all. Its insane! I rang someone else and their quote was 1500 - half the price of my usual insurer. Does anyone have any recommendations? I don't want to go cheap and end up in a mess if I have to claim, but neither do I want to pay out 1500 more than I have to, I have had to put my prices up to accomodate feed & fuel prices as it is......

Just out of interest, roughly how much is insurance for a riding school? I've always wondered.

Unfortunately I think you do have a very limited market of who will cover this type of risk what with today's blame culture hence the high premiums.

True LadyT, not many want anything to do with RS.
I used to be with Shearwater, basic cover : public liability, employers liability. It wasabout 2500 a year

That was without horses/tack etc insured.

I am so despondent...I do my best to put health and safety first. The quote was for 3500 and like Java Jane that does not include insurance for the horses themselves. I don't see a future for riding schools under these circumstances. Its not like we make a fortune and we work 16 hours a day.....Am wondering if it is all really worth it at the moment.
