As title really.

Insurance policy expires Monday; and am currently with Towergate.

Am looking around for comparison - everyone sings the praises of NFU but we were with them a few years back and they put up the premium horrendously so we went elsewhere, but having just rung them for a quote (as thought we might do better being "new business") have been told that they are not sure whether they are able to offer a quote for this type of insurance at the moment! They will be ringing me back later.........

I have a small DIY concern and would need CCC and public liability basically, plus the dwelling house which is also on site. House is Grade II listed, oh joy.

SEIB is a bit cumbersome: you have to print out their form, fill it in, and then e-mail back to them. Sounds a bit faffy!

Anybody got any other ideas?

That might be because of covid? We’re with SEIB and yes, the form is long and detailed, but we just posted it back? I also have CCC and PL, and they were quite competitive. We used to get our livery insurance through country landowners who we have everything else with, but last year they changed their insurance provider and the premium went up by about £300 so I shopped around a bit.

I just changed to KBIS and there was no form filling in - only online signatures so nice and straightforward.

Well I've just filled in the pro-forma for their property insurance (my yard and property are in the same place!), but you obviously have to print-out their YO's insurance form and then e-mail......... I'll ring them. Easier!

This is a time-consuming process.... nightmare. I'm facing the scenario that I am going to be seriously OUT of pocket for having a livery on my place; its gonna probably cost me more than £1000 I'm looking at! not hard to see why so many people are giving up!

Yep! It’s a major chunk of my paltry livery ‘income’?

Please note , Martin Lewis says shop a month or more earlier than your policy expires to get the best prices if you apply last minute they hike the cost up as they know you need immediate cover, give them a later start date see if the price is better then haggle that price for NOW.

Cornish Mutual are helpful. We’ve insured a non-standard construction barn conversion and separate annex, also non-standard, 10.5 acres, PL. No DIY but you speak to real people who work things out and call you back.
