Hi, hoping someone on here can help.

We have our own yard and horses plus a couple of liveries. Most of the work is completed by myself, husband and mother but we are considering getting someone to work a couple of hours a week to give us a hand so we can have one day a week on "light" duties as we all also work elsewhere.

I am very conscious of the current "compensation" culture and also want to safeguard everyone so want to investigate insurance for this part-timer. All the horses are very safe, but you can never predict how a horse might react to something new or just be having a bad day.

Can anyone recommend a suitable policy to cover such a person? Obviously if it is too expensive then it isn't viable to get help, but I want to be able to sleep at night knowing all is covered.

Thanks in anticipation.

I use Simply Business which is online insurance agent. they also do business over the phone, but I find online is clearer.
You might be better finding someone self employed then you minimise your liabilities.
If they are handling horses they should wear a hat, and even a body protector, accidents happen, and it is difficult if they are on their own.
SEIB might give advice on horse related insurance.
with the liveries, it might be view as a business.
