we are selling the trailer and buying a 3.5t lorry. It will be me and OH driving it majority of the time but i need to get 19yo daughter on insurance so she can pop to the odd show in week when we are working, Any ideas of insurers who cover this age group. thanks

NFU all the way! Carriagehouse wouldn't even quote for us on our 3.5t cos my sister was under 21 - she is 19 - but NFU have insured us, and we have a policy that covers ANY driver, although its more expensive than just having us as named drivers. BUT its cheaper than my Churchill policy for my 306! And includes breakdown/recovery!! can't remember exactly how much but think £3-400 ish..

I was insured with four counties insurance when I had my 3.5 tonne box, they also offer breakdown. Try them for a quote.

I've now got my horse and trailer insurance sorted through Equestrian World insurance services (brokers) who have been great and got me a really good deal on both policies, not sure if they do horsebox cover but you could try them, they managed to beat my trailer renewal from 4counties!

i have got my driving lisence and my mum has a lorry, would i be able to get insured and drive it straight away or would i have to take some sort of lorry test???

It depends on when you passed your test, and how big the lorry is.

From the sounds of your post, you have only recently passed your test (sorry assuming here!), so you will only be able to drive up to 3.5t on your car licence. Any more than that and you will have to take a further test.
