I have a landrover disco as a second vehicle which is only used for towing and yard duties like harrowing etc. It is currently SORN because the mot has ran out and i havnt got my trailer yet or been competing so havnt needed to use it. But as i am only 20, my insurance on it is very high, were talking about £1300, althought with family members added it brings it down to £900 if paid in one go, extra if paid monthly. I cannot justify this just to use it on weekends for towing. I have a peugeot on finance so cannot get rid of that so i just have one car, nor do we have a car big enough in the house hold to tow.
im going to ring NFU in the morn and get them to give me a quote but at the moment im in a pickle.
I was going to get my trailer in the new year but i cannot justify paying that much for a 4x4. I would not be happy towing with a saloon/estate, and i need something to harrow the school etc, its just so darn expensive!

Any ideas?

Try tescos, they seem to be the cheapest for discos
Also just go 3rd party, disco parts are cheap to come by if you need to fix it up at any point

Dont know how they compare for young drivers but try A-Plan insurance. They specialise in commercial and 4x4 vehicles and we could never find cheaper with our Navara.

My renewal just came through for my 4x4 with NFU. It was £760. DirectLine want £300 ! I called NFU and asked them what they could do about it and they said nothing - they had already given me a good price ? Madness. I have been with them for years.

i have already done a quote with sure term and it was over 2k :-0 i will try another quote some experienced drivers added aswell.

I was with NFU who put mine up £500 in one year, was struggling but rung norcounties (put into google) they specialise in 4x4 insurance when its not your main car, got fully comp with a claim for £260!!!!

Couldnt believe it - mine is a disco too. Give them a try.

Hi,

This is Jennifer from NorCounty Insurance Services. I've just registered with you and I'd like to find out if there is a way of me advertising my company with you / sponsoring your site?

i have a small, very efficiently run insurance brokerage and an excellent 4x4 scheme and I believe that some of your members are already happily insured though ourselves.

Number one priority... we offer a no-nonsense approach and will happily chat with customers, new and old!

If anyone knows of a way I might be able to advertise my services I'd love to hear from them.

Thank you

Jennifer
