ARGH...ARGH.....ARGH!!! X

My horse is being treated for her suspensory ligment and has been scanned/xrayed/shockwaved and next step is operation.......she is insured with KBIS and generally hear that they are quite good! Fingers crossed!!

I rang vets today to check they had sent the claimform off, which they said they have and that the insurance that requested information on the horses history.....

Well August 2010, i had vet come out for vaccinations and whilst the vet was there, i asked her to watch her trotting up as she had been slightly 'off' since having back shoes on - she'd never had back shoes on before but as she was going to be doing more work i choose to have a full set put on. I told the vet she had been slightly 'off' since having back shoes and she advised to have them removed and get a work-up if she wasn't ok after that. Shoes came off and two days later she was fine!

Now, as thats on her notes, relating to the same leg. Will this affect the insurance?

I dont know how she did her suspensory in either....she just went lame after being in the field.

I know insurance look into everything but horses do have funny moments and they won't say they're not going to pay out becuase of this will they?!

MEGA STRESSED!!!! X

possibly depends on how your vets word things. you need to speak to them before they fill in the form. I'm sure they can sort it for you though as there is no true relationship to current injury.

The vets said that they have notes for vaccinations and told the insurance that the vet noted down lameness on left leg (which is sus. damaged now) and vet advised to remove shoes and re-access her if it continued....which it didnt x

I know they look into everything and i'm sure it'll be ok but cannot afford whopping bill if they say they wont pay out! x

I guess the insurance may ask me about this but it was 14 months ago and she's been in championships, loads of competitions etc since then and done really well.

i really hope for your sake they pay out but in this day and age i think your vets may have made a mistake by saying there were notes about lameness. they would have been better off just saying injections and not mentioning it.
Fingers crossed they pay out for you but be prepared

Did you inform them of the vets visit on renewal. I use KBIS and know that when you renew they ask you about everything that has happened during the year, even if you did not claim.

I tell them everything, even vet giving me some frontline for mites.

If you have done, they would have excluded anything they were worried about, if they didn't you are in the clear.

If you didn't then I guess its down to their goodwill as they probably could get out of it.

My experience with KBIS is that they are the best, so you might be lucky.

Good luck
