Insurance payouts

Just wondered if anyone has had experience of waiting for a pay out from E&L and if so how long you had to wait, did you end up in Court etc. They've agreed settlement weeks ago but apparently they have a "backlog".

With me they took weeks till they decided to pay out (letter from vet helped), but once that decision was made they paid up quite quickly, this was about 14 yrs ago and I haven't used them since........
 
friend waited 6 months for her payout

as soon as he got it he moved his insurance away from E&L and that was for a dog
 
friends of mine havnt been paid yet. the insurance company was'nt going to pay but they have kept on and on, even said they'd take to court, they have agreed to pay some. Its been going on for 8 months now. still fighting... keep badgering them, send a letter demanding payment by...... and send it recorded delivery because e n L post seem to get lost some how!!
 
My vets send out a letter with every bill saying that if you're insured with E&L, you must pay the bill now & then claim it back yourself from the insurance co as they are so slow at paying.

No personal experience of them.
 
Took me 10 months for a payment of a bill that was £700. In the end I rang them and said I wasn't moving off the phone until it was sorted

Should've stamped my feet in the first place, straight away I cancelled 2 horse insurance's and 3 dog insurances. I really don't know how they carry on, they still have the cheek to send me letters in the post offering me a discount.
 
Have claimed 4 times from E&L (same horse, different claims) and each time they took about 4 months but they did always pay. They have an odd procedure where they will only send you things at the end of every month, so one month it's a letter saying they are considering your claim, nexty month an offer, next month it's a confirmation of your acceptance and then the next month it's your cheque with any luck.

Ive been phoning round for insurance, totally off topic here but got told today that for loss of the horse they only pay out the "going market rate of the horse", so ummmmmm...... what the hell is the point in me valuing the horse at what I THINK he is worth?!
