Blimely is it only me or has everyones insurance gone up this year? mines gone up a whopping £135!! i have made no claims for the whole time ive had my horse which is 4 years and still my insurance goes up! makes me mad!!

anyone else had problems like this this year? or reccommend me a cheaper but still as good insurer than nfu?

There have been an awful lot of posts saying NFU prices have gone through the roof this year
try South essex, they are fab

Hi Mole.. Know the feeling. I'm with NFU and renewal forms came this morning - £123 more for me :(

But I have to say my experience of NFU the 2 times I've had to claim, is that they've been very good and quick.

Have a look at Amtrust Equine I changed to them a couple of years ago when NFU suddenly put in their clause that they wouldnt pay for MRI scans even though I had never claimed for anything in at least 10 yrs!! Unfortunately i am claiming vets fees at present with Amtrust and I am finding them professional, prompt payers, knowlegable and sympathetic!

Mine has gone up just over £100, been insured for 3 years and never made a claim. Following advice on here I tried SEIB and identical cover is £100 cheaper, so the same as I have been paying.

Mine came today - NFU - same cover , and it has gone down!!!!:D

lucky you! wish mine had. how can that be???!!!

i'll try a few that have been suggested and see what happens. i dont really want to compromise my cover just so my insurance premium goes down (ie down-valuing my horsey or taking tack off)

try Shearwater, i've never claimed but their customer service is fab so don't anticipate any problems and working for a vets they've never had any problems claiming.

OP Yes! I have been with NFU and with no claim and no change to my policy cover they want to increase my premium by a whopping 52% this year - I've been speaking to them this week and they won't discuss why there is this vast change to my individual policy (because nothing could justify it as far as I could see...) and won't offer any discount which is madness. Especially like as one of the posters on here says their premium with them has actually gone down so how on earth are they working out which customer gets charged what premium? No logic to it that I can see. I'm currently online quote shopping around... I'm contemplating an insurer for vets fees and death/theft, etc and BHS gold membership for the public liability and personal accident cover if that works out any better.
