I know most policies discount any illness claims in the first 14 days, but does this also apply to travelling/field accidents?

Bearing in mind when purchasing a new horse......

Most policies only cover AEI accidental external injury for the first 14 days so would cover broken leg or cuts/kicks in field but not colic or anything internal. Would think most trailer incidents would result in external injuries so would be covered. Is def worth thinking about a horse where my mum worked reared on concrete when being loaded to go to new home and broke his neck awful to think about but it does happen.

Insurance covers for injury/death by accident the moment the policy is taken out. Illnesses/degenerative conditions are not covered until 14 days after inception if a policy. I once dealt with aa claim where the policyholder took out the policy from the day they bought the horse. Sadly, the horse broke it's leg whilst being loaded into the trailer and, as insurers we paid out even though the policy had only been in force for few hours, tragic fir everyone concerned but at least they'd had the sense to insure the horse.

I bought new horse and insured with friends of animals within 10 days he had bad accident and had to have 4,500 surgery .If I remember correctly I was covered after 6 days and was within day of cover and they paid in full. Every company is different :)
