I just want your opinions on this situation please.....

My loan horse has been diagnosed by the vet as having unbalanced feet. His advice was for her to be shod with heart bar shoes......Now she is insured with NFU.

However, they only cover 20% of the horses value for remedial shoeing. But for a single illness/condition they will pay upto £5000. She is likely to have these shoes on for a year with a cost of £130 every 4 weeks.

I have spoken to the farrier who is willing to charge the shoeing fees back to the vet and then they are paid through the vet...... now will this count as vet fee's or alternative treatment??

Just wondering really.......

I would be careful on this, you could end up excluding the feet from future insurance cover and still not get all your money back. I know it's expensive, but if you can afford to, I would just pay it.
