I need to get some insurance for my 3 yr old, so am after a recommendation or who to avoid! also i need to get my tack insured too, but will know the value of it.
I bought the filly at 10 months old and paid £650 for her, obviously she is now worth more than this but what exactly i am not too sure so maybe someone can give me a rough idea??

Backed 6 wks ago, safe in traffic, schooling beautifully, no vices good to load, farrier etc
Anyones ride, forward going not a ploddy type but very safe
Did well at first dressage on first outing (w&t test)

I was thinking of insuring her for around £2500?? or am i way off??

Also looking online briefly i seem to be looking at around £30 - £40 PM for insurance to include vet bills, loss of use etc

Hiya, I've recently purchased a 3 year old, and Im insured with NFU. I know not everyone has had good deals with them (but thats like with any company), but I recently lost a horse and they were brilliant and settled the claim and paid out straight away with no quabbles and they were really helpful on the phone. So I'm back with them with my new horse and its a good premium aswell and its £34 a month for everything except tack (at the mo).

I know some insurance companies require a vetting certificate on animals who are worth/ bought for £2500 plus, but NFU didnt require one.

Best to have a shop around but there is also, SEIB, KBIS and Petplan who are all good.

I know that she is probably priceless to you - but if the worst was to happen how much would you need to but another one of similar sort - i dont think £2,5k is off the mark.
Try Petplan as i have always had good service from them x
 
I have been with petplan and they paid out without a problem when my mare died with colic. Although they dud insist on a post mortem despite the fact the vet had been with the mare when she died and for 7 hours before her death. Seemed overkill to all concerned but it was their policy.
I went through Scottish equestrian for my new mare as petplan quoted £15 a month more for the same policy provided by scottish equestrian and both policies were under written by cornhill alianz

Anyway -scottish equestrian have been great. No issues with claims,straight payment. My mare is insured for 4k with vet cover and all my tack, works out at £37/month. Good value in my book!
