A friend is hoping to buy a horse tomorrow, which she has been told has no significant medical history. She wants to insure it with one of the main insurance companies. when she applies, if it really has got a veterinary history (and it's already insured with them with their current owner) , would they be able to tell so that her mind is put at rest? I'm just wondering, because they now have the details of the horses passport number etc on the policy. thankies!

Unless she tells them it's currently insured with them then I don't think they are likely to know unless they do have an internal search facility against passport numbers. I don't think they would be able to tell you the information as it would be confidential so, in all honesty i am not sure what they would do if you say gave them the existing policy number. I still don't think they could do a lot but then it'd be in their interest to keep any exclusions that were in place. I guess all your friend can do is ask them!
