Sorting insurance in advance of Sadie arriving on Friday! She does have sweet itch and there is a question on the insurance quote (Insurance Emporium)

9. Has your Horse ever been examined in respect of, treated for, or diagnosed with:

x Allergy
x Skin condition

Briefly describe the circumstances
Obviously sweet itch is kind of an allergy and kind of a skin condition but she has never needed any vet treatment for it, it's managed reasonably well with rugs etc. What is the correct answer here so I don't do an insurance fraud or increase premium unnecessarily? It has been said that technically I don't need to declare it because she's never been officially diagnosed with anything and in the future if she needs additional treatment for anything skin related then I could claim for it but that feels dodgy!

Having just posted on an online forum you have stuffed yourself a bit with not declaring it as internet is not private.
I would declare it as sweetitch if you know she has it. She won't be covered for it.

Oh I know, she's also all over the rescue FB page in her fly rug anyway so wouldn't be much chance of saying I didn't know she had it. More like, she's never had veterinary treatment for it or been actually diagnosed by a vet which is the actual question. I wouldn't like an insurer to never cover anything related to her skin because of it just.

Yes just say. In the future even if a claim is totally non related if you haven’t been honest they can refuse to pay.
It won’t increase your premium it will just probably be an exclusion.

You're right. I'm not going to out loop-hole an insurance firm like, am I. AH WELL worth asking anyway just so I don't second guess myself later and get annoyed about it.

When I got my quote (also emporium) online and declared my horses past injury the actual premium stayed the same. They tried to exclude all legs but I argued that as it was ridiculous, they then swapped it to exclude just tendons and ligaments in the one leg.
I imagine they will say “sweetitch and related conditions” are excluded from yours.

We shall see when the policy documents come through! She is essentially a free pony so she can burn through the 5k budget I had planned to buy with on rugs and potions before I start resenting it lol
I cannot help but I am SO HAPPY FOR YOU. You must keep us updated with all your progress.
I'm swinging between glee and panic like a Newton's cradle ??

No photos until she's safe in the stable, would be bad karma. You can come visit though! You're close enough and probably not a murderer I think ?
