Any recommendations for insuring a Mitsubishi Shogun LWB, to be driven by 25yr old near 7 yrs driving, 3 yrs no claims (not main insured driver for rest of time). Currently insured for parents at £200/annum and insurer looking for extra £700/annum on top for adding myself, I will be taking over vehicle so will just be to insure myself. Struggling to get a sensible quote for ours and do not want change vehicle as need the pulling power and is v reliable.

Thanks in advance.

I'm 25 have 2 years no claims etc Try Aviva they insure my Antara for 550 a year when everyone else said 2.5/3k

My sisters 25 with no no claims and an open insurance thing cause some idiot hit her last year and because she had no damage they wont chase the guy to finish it (Not with Aviva) they insure her Shogun for about 900.

Easiest way for cheapest quote is to use confused.com....saved myself thousands over the years.....however having lots of experience with insurers in my previous life the best insurer for cover and paying out if it all goes wrong is definately the NFU mutual.......

Direct Line or Aviva.

I am 24, 6 years no claims and I could get insurance for C£500 with both on a 12 plate Kia Sorento.

This sounds so much more reasonable, it just seems stupid to be paying £900 when i have never had anything on my licence or insurance, I would be happy to pay more were this the case. I would even go far as to have a box fitted if thats even possible on 4x4.

All the quotes comparison sites have given me are around £800ish, i live in an area of very low crime so not sure what is pushing it up! I will have to look again

Thank you! Tried putting in more years than no claims (did this out of interest) but has really no difference using comparison sites. I will look at both of those.

NFU and then talk to them if you don't like the quote

Thank you I will give them a call!

The NFU are hopeless and far to excpensive on insurance nowadays we use Rural insurance which is available through brokers they are very competetive. for example we have a new navara with a 21yo on a normal any driver policy and its less than £ 500 yr NFU wanted £ 670 and would not insure for the 21yo

You need toi look at other permutations as it is often cheaper for young drivers to add a named driver for example to a policy than for it to be only single driver , I know that seems odd but it it very often true

If your vehicle is more than 10 years old, don't bother with Aviva because they start to push the premiums up again on older vehicles. To add an 18 year old with 1 year driving as an additional driver they wanted £2k for 3 months!!

Yes, I will be looking around for another insurer.

I have a 4x4 that can be classed as commercial so had problems with insurance quotes being huge. I was recommended A-Plan insurance and I have to say I have had excellent service from them.
