insurance recommendations

I went with Direct Line. I got a quote on line and they worked out quite reasonable compared to some other insurance companies.

My vet told us the best are Petplan and Direct line are also very good. He just said avoid E&L!!!

Exactly what my vet said too, in fact I know they refuse to deal with E&L and want payment up front if you're insured with them, especially for horses.

I'm with Direct Line at the moment, £9 for basic, £11 for life cover, claiming was easy as their call centres are great but it took up to 8 weeks for payment. Renewal is next month so I'm running through some quotes now, Sainsburys want £24 a month and don't offer life cover.

Esure is who we used in england.
My mother says she will never be with anyone else after they handled a claim from her last year that went almost 10k over the claim limit and they paid up.

I find that the NFU is really good.

Jack has arthritis (He is 9 and was diagnosed at the age of 7) and they have paid for all the blood tests he needs (Every six months) xrays , drugs and the hydrotherapy he has once a week.

He has had a MRI scan which they paid for.

They pay for my fuel to and from the rehab center and as I have put him on a prescription food they will pay up to £200 a year towards the cost.

All the above for life.

It is not cheap but well worth it. I have all my dogs insured with them as well as my horses and the Land Rover.

Petplan are very good. They do cover for the lifetime of the illness and are very prompt at paying out. They were the only insurance company that my vet would deal with directly regarding claims. If i had been insured with anyone else i'd have had to pay the huge bill myself then claim it back. I can't recommend them enough and i'd say that you definatley get what you pay for, cheaper is not always better

Im with Animal Friends and Tesco. Have had to claim twice with Tesco's and they have paid out within the week both times, excellent service.

Was with Direct Line the 1st year, but their renewal was very uncompetitive. they only give new customers good deals so it seems!

I tried NFU, but because Harley grazed his tesicles last year ( ;) ) and I took him to the vet for antibiotics (and the male vet gave him painkillers! ;) ) and because of that they would only give him very limited cover. Not just an exclusion... virtually no cover at all. All because I'd taken him to the vet when he'd cut himself! Even the woman on the phone said their dog policy was ridiculous.

So I compared loads of comanies and went for esure. Got a good range of cover for a good price.
