I was wondering if anyone had ever had to go through an Ombudsman to get a claim paid by your insurance company?
My insurance has decieded not to pay out beacuse of something that wasnt my fault and something else really flippin petty and am not happy so was going to warn them with going to an Ombudsman to settle my claim but if they go ahead with it then I was wondering if anyone had ever delt with these people?

Not sure who regulates the insurance industry, but I did go through the financial ombudsman service when my mortgage company charged me standard variable when I had actaully signed up for a fixed deal.

The FOS were very slow, it took almost 6 months for them to consider my case. Their workload is very high (my case was quite simple) & in the end I did not get everything I wanted. So I was very let down by the service.

Dont threaten them in an attempt to get a result -it wont work. You must follow through what you have said you will.
My mortgage co did try to settle outside of the FOS, but I kept declining as the offer was awful & in hindsight, I got nothing more at the end anyway.

It's your choice, but be aware that they are not the silver lining to your cloud.
