Happy Friday darlings!

Hope you are all soaking up the sun!

Just wanted to share my experiences with Petplan Equine (very favourable!)

So as many of you know, I am a complete idiot and bought my beautiful horse last year, unseen and with no vetting. Yep, I’m THAT person ?

Anyway, when trying to act knowledgable across “what’s app” I asked the dealer - “is there any medical history I should know about? Laminitis? Ulcers?”

To which they replied “No, none whatsoever ?”

Fabulous I thought! What a wonderful start to my horse buying experience ?

Sadly when it came to insure Prince, before he made his journey across the Irish Sea to me, I pushed for more medical evidence and was told that the “none whatsoever” comment actually meant.... They had no medical history whatsoever! They had only had him for several weeks!

Now with hindsight I am completely aware that this was all of my own doing - I was naive and foolish - but one cannot change ones mistakes so I set out to see what nutcase of an insurer would provide Prince with cover...

And to my delight! I found someone! None other than those fabulous folk at PetPlan Equine! I completely disclosed the lack of medical history and to my utter astonishment they still insured him with £5,000 for any condition (with 12 months limit for each condition) for only £58 a month!

The purpose of my post is to say - they have been absolutely BRILLIANT! Lovely efficient claims handlers, a clear and easy to fill out claims form, full disclosure of all documents they need to process a claim etc..

So far they have paid up for Princes ulcers, cushings, lameness and kissing spines claims with no bother at all. I am extremely grateful for this and it’s given me complete peace of mind that Prince is in great hands.

In a world where bad feedback travels far quicker than good, I thought I would put my experience out there as a recent case study of excellent equine insurance!

Now I’m off for my Friday Prosecco, bottoms up darlings ?

Meanwhile, my insurance seem to be making life awkward because I didn't insure my horse as a broodmare (no sh1t!) and the vet didn't pick up the pregnancy at the PPE back in February. They found this baffling. The joys. I was just trying to add the foal to the insurance.

I was the same, lockdown pony purchase and insured with petplan, who have been a godsend. slightly different from you in the sense that I was told she had no health issues, no medical issues, previous injuries etc.. and have proof of that on the ad and in conversations. of course these were all lies but fortunately my insurance has still paid out
although still waiting for 3 months worth of physio to be reimbursed to me!!
