Hi all,
Just wondering if anybody could help me. I am a freelance rider/groom but over the past couple of months have had several people ask me for lessons. I did agree to teach people that were on my yard informally but some of the requests were from people who I ride for who aren't on my yard. I realise if something were to happen whilst somebody was under my instruction I could be in big doo doos, but at the moment I am really busy with my riding/grooming work so I haven't got time to do my AI or similar. In the future I probably will but teaching was never something I wanted to get into so have never considered it before. My question is does naybody know if I can get insurance to teach without having to gain any teaching qualifications first? I am a BHS Gold member for my riding insurance but obv. this doesnt cover me to teach. Any ideas?
Thankies in advance!

Shearwater also offer instructor insurance. By the way, BHS insurance only covers you for personal accident and 3rd party when riding , and this may be invalid if you are charging for this. You would not be covered for injury to the horse itself, so if a horse was injured while you were riding it eg if you fell off and the hose tried to jump out of the arena, the owner could sue you.
