hi
i have bhs insurance through the gold membership. I am not qualified but work at a riding school most of the time. However a friend has asked me to teach her on her own horse. She knows im not qualified and her and the yard are happy with this. However i have heard you need insurance to teach someone on their own horse. would bhs cover me for this? if not where is the best place?
thanks

Legally at the moment you do not HAVE to have insurance to teach. However I think that is a really bad idea, and I have heard rumours that it might change in the future. Some yards also have rules stating visiting instructors have to have it.

BHS gold membership does not cover you. If you join the register of instructors you can get insurance included, that's how I have mine. However you need qualications to go on the register. I think SEIB may cover unqualified people.
