My step d let her ID x horse insurance lapse last April.. I didn't know or I would have helped with payment. Now the old company want £700 for a 15 yr old gelding who has 2 exclusions, one eye excluded because of lack of pigment, and he had a tie back done 3 years ago. He was insured with amtrust.
So who can I look to for a quote of about £350 ish?
He is only worth £2000 but it's the vet fees we want, and PL
Pet plan was £900 .....
Any ideas who to look to. I've done a compare site but they only seem to cover dogs and cats

BHS gold membership is a good way to get your PL cover. I can't suggest insurance for vets fees though - I suspect it'll be pricy due to age. I stopped my geldings insurance when he got to 18 as it just so expensive. And they look for any excuse not to pay.

My insurance through petplan is only £420 per year for group 4 cover and £5000 vets fees. My horse is 7 with her front feet and her respiratory system and sarcoids excluded. I couldn't find a better deal with anyone else. Maybe review his value/ group to get a lower quote.

Have done Julie Andrews quote...waiting to hear back.. can't fathom why I am getting so different quotes for same horse..
For example
For 15 year old gelding. Been owned for 2 years, but insurance lapsed 12 months ago (due to financial reasons)
Irish D x
Only used riding club or local unaffiliated stuff
Been turned away last 12 months due to uni
Two exclusions we accept.
Horse worth £1000. Vet fees needed £3000

Pet plan £560
Equi. £723
Insure my horse..££250
E&l (I know) £180
It's a mine field.

SEIB were brilliant when I had to claim, they paid vets fees very quickly as necessary and then paid out for loss of use at an agreeable amount. I was very happy with the service they gave me. I wouldnt touch NFU again, never claimed with them but they were pretty rude when I told them I was cancelling my policy with them as my premiums kept increasing stupidly every year for no reason!

I have been insured with KBIS for the last 9 years . They were absolutely brilliant when I had to make a claim last year, paid everything straight away with absolutely no fuss. Would definitely recommend .

We're about to re take out insurance with petplan for my youngster as they gave a quote for £396 a year but we had to stop insuring my now 17 year old as it just costs far to much as she has exclusions for her eyes and liver.
