Scottish Equestrian. Insurance has goneup a lot this year. It used to cost about £580 to insure both my cobs. Now I have a cob and a warmblood and it costs £700 with my 2-horse discount! With petplan it was going to be another couple of hundred on top, but I may consider it next year so I can get the vet cover until G is 25.
With e and l for one horse and ww.insuremyhorse.com with new horse.
I know e and l have terrible reputation but they paid out nearly £7000 for my horse over 2 years.Had to appeal and they do take longer than some companies but they have settled eventually as long as you are legit and follow up you will get the settlement. You need to record every conversation as in the date and who you speak to so you can quote details if necessary .I never thought I would need to make a claim but things happen.
NFU, they insure my 3 horses, horsebox and house and that means that my tack is covered free of charge under the house insurance when at home but covered under the horses insurance when out with them. I had a TB and he had more claims than I care to remember and they always paid the vets directly and they were very quick as well. When my mare was freezemarked and there was a problem with the way it was done, (can't say too much) but NFU approached me and then persued company for me and we settled out of court.
I have previously used E & L it was an expensive claim....see horse and hound (October 9th issue) sadly we lost our Gulliver to cancer. They paid out eventually but the excess on the £4600.00 was almost £2000.00 !!! There was alot i couldnt claim for ie Livery, transport, Euthanasia/Disposal and that was on top of the standard £139.00 excess and they also take 17.5% off the whole claim which you have to pay but they said it wasnt the VAT ?? Im with Stoneways now with additional Vet cover and its all covered except the Euthanasia/disposal and i only pay 140 excess per claim.
