i know this has been done to death, but i have had my insurance renewal from petplan and it has gone up but £5 a month to £45!!!! and considering she is just a riding horse insured for £2500 i think this is a little steep. i have rung nfu and waiting for them to get back to me (but they said might be probs because of claims on my other horse, totally unrealted)

so who else could i ring?

Amtrust Equine, really rate them

amymay it sounds promising then, i haven't got her insured for loss of use was considering it but with premuims like petplans i won't

I am having this debate at the moment, as my Petplan premium seems excessive so am going to get a quote from NFU as I have heard lots of good things about them. Have never had a problem with Petplan, but premiums for a 3yr old of £45 per month seem a little steep to me!

I had to swap from petplan because of the cost. when i got my renewal notice it had gone up a terrible amount. I hadnt even had one single claim with them. I went to NFU

I gave up this month with the exclusions put on me and and being asked for £68 a month. I have been insured with the NFU for 15 years - never made a claim. I Joined BHS as a gold member and saving the differance in an account.

By the way NFU will ask you questions such as "have you had the vet out to any horse you own or care for" have you had or know anyone whom has claimed for loss of use. And if you have a vetting you have to send them a copy even if is for less that £5k
