I'm taking a lovely horse on full loan shortly, contract has been drawn up and we're both aware of who is responsible for what in relation to the care of the horse. Owner will continue to pay for the horse's insurance but I wondered if you thought it would be smart to get myself some rider insurance and if so, which company do you recommend? Swaying towards the BHS gold membership so any stories of dealing with the BHS would be very helpful.

TIA :)

The BHS insurance is a general third party insurance which is essential but may already be in the package paid for by the owners so check what they have covered, if you want a personal rider insurance then you need to look around to see what is appropriate for your requirements.

It's more for the personal accident insurance aspect I suppose as the horse has comprehensive cover and that won't be changing when the loan begins. No competing, mainly schooling and some hacking ridden work wise. I'll try a few comparisons and see what looks best. BHS and Petplan were similar in cost but the BHS membership has some small perks.
