Insuremyhorse insurance?

i'm insured with insuremyhorse, as they are only a broker my actual policy is with towergate. this is the important bit to check who actually underwrites when going thru broker.
I haven't had to claim - touch wood...
Good value for money though.
 
insuremyhorse is underwritten by Towergate (you should be able to look up Towergate on a web search if you wanted more info - basically a big insurer like say Norwich union). The horse policy is actually underwritten by RSA (Royal Sun Alliance) so a big insurer. Insuremyhorse is run by CETA insurance (brokers) basically who handle the policy on your behalf - ie they assist with setting up the policy, dealing with your claims etc (as per a normal broker you'd have for car insurance etc.

There is also insureyourhorse which is Equestrian Direct who I think just insure direct (although they may transact business through insurance brokers too).

NFU are obviously a well known insurer and basically they all offer similar packages (as most horse insurabces do) so it will depend what cover you want as certain insurers will target specific markets as a car insurer will do so you will find certain uses/covers etc will alter premiums differently with each insurer.

I have never been insured with NFU, at present 2 of our horses are insured with petplan but we have never made a claim so i don't know about them in that respect. People will have bad and good experiences with each insurer though so i would suggest just asking around - sometimes the best person to ask is your vet, they will know who are the best and mopst efficient at settling claims (and indeed the ones - or should I say one - that isn't!!!)

Nailed - E&L now underwrite themselves, so I'm not worrying too much about Towergate.....

<font color="blue">Have heard nothing but praise for NFU - but never used them personally.

I have 4 horse and a dog insured with Petplan and would never use anyone else. I have had a big claim with a horse and several big claims with a dog and they have been fantastic. Also, before having my daughter I was a Veterinary Nurse and we never ever hit problems with Petplan paying out - this is one of the only ones I can say that about, hence me using them for all of my lot! </font>
