Mines been with the NFU for ages and she is still insured, I am not sure if they only allow it because I have a multiple policy for 6 and she has been with them for about 15 years? The trouble with it is, that she is insured for accidental death only at a value of £250, no vet fees etc but I keep it up because it has the public liability cover for her, just in case she caused a problem on the road etc.
I have my horse insured with PetPlan but it is a Veteran policy so quite restricted. When I got my horse he was advertised as 30 and this is the age on the policy (well 31 now) and they did'nt seem concerned. This costs just under a tenner a month and I know it does not cover illness but did pay out for a nasty wound when he was kicked so worth having.
My pony is 27 and have just insured her though Julie Andrews with SEIB. It's only just over £7/month, for accidential injury (upto £1500 vets fees) and death and public liability. Not sure what age they go up to but definately ring a few up, like LadyT said.
hi ive just signed up a came across your message what youve got to consider your horse is getting older now and many insurances wont cover you and even when they do and something happens to that horse etc lameness and needs veternary treatment they wont payout as they will say its an old injury or some lame story not to pay i would consider what you want as all i would go for is public liability which you can obtain from the bhs its a riders insurance but it covers you for any horse that you may ride or own
