I was wondering if anyone has an older horse that they have insured for a decent value?

Every policy Ive seen only seems to allow you to insure any horse over 16 for a maximum of 1k !

I think mine is insured for market value..which is about £1 lol. It still says he's insured for £1500, but I don't think thats actually what they'd pay out

hmm I seems like that is the case everywhere then.

I totally understand companies not insuring for loss of use at that age, but a horse can be over 16 and be worth more than bloody £500!

Mines insured for what id consider a significant amount but its with a danish company so i dont imagine that helps too much

However my old trainer in the uk has an 17 year old insured for around the £20k mark. I know she had to have full x rays and 5 stage vetting on the horse at the point on insurance (which was about 8 months ago) but i dont remember there being any other problems.

Mine had to have the same and also a reference from a qualified "head rider"

ETS - no, neither of us could get LoU
