anyone know of such an insurance, i have just had a quote for my lot and as horrid as it sounds, it would be cheaper for me to loose a mare a year than to insure them all:(

that's not horrid you are being realistic...i work in insurance and i know who expensive it can be.

What is your main concern - vets fees?

yes , i want a single policy to cover the heard, as it stands i have no insurance and tbh not really needed it, but you always think what if.

the best quotes i have had are for £255 a mare and that is only for fees of up to £1,500

i am going to ring round tomorrow and see what the prices ae like with out vets fees, just to insure them for the worst

Are any of them veterans? mine are both with NFU and my mare (now in her 20's) does have cover including vets fee and it really wasn't expensive

The only thing to be careful of is to make sure you do have adequate 3rd party liability because if your horse does any damage to a third party, be it your fault or not (ie someone lets them out onto a road) - you are 100% liable.

All mine are insured with NFU and I am a Gold Member of BHS to get the liability cover. Far cheaper that way than paying so much per horse to NFU.
