We brought home our new SBT puppy today.....our rottie bitch is largely uninterested, stb bitch has been following him round intently.

She is playing with him but desperately trying to dominate him but he's not having any of it!! She is trying to put a paw on him/roll him on his back/mount him but he turns and nips her and runs off.

When this happens the rottie gets all whipped up and starts barking and jumping round and trying to get involved. My staff bitch then gets a bit more growly and I'm worried it could get out of hand and the wee one could get hurt.

Can anyone advise me how best to manage this?

Don't worry it's not been going on constantly :)

He takes himself off to his bed when he wants a kip and has been up to the stables for a few hours. He's instigating alot of it (99%). He does have a crate (where he ate his tea) but isn't keen on it yet!

We have had this post (or similar)ish recently, your staff sound pretty fixated on the little arrival, does not sound like she is doing it in a bad way (your rotti) is being a rotti lol, they dont half gob off when something is going on they dont agree with (get a little uppity) but again generally in a "ffs give up" way:D
I personally would stop the staff with the ott behaviour, allow her to interact with him until you are concerned she is going to far then step in and tell her wth an "ah ah, enough" and sent her away if need be. Then allow her back to interact once more and monitor what you deem OTT and step in again, make her aware that u are "watching her" and their is a consiquence for the unwanted behaviour.
She maybe trying to mother him more than anything, but of course you dont want him hurt or the rotti to join in.
As you already have a the crate, Im assuming they are sepeated when you are not there, so aslong as you watch her closely when u are and discourage the behaviour you dont want she should sharp get the message.
She will wish she never started by the time the staff is of the "im relentless age":D
As its day 1, she will get bored with the new arival/smells and whole excitement OTT-ness of it all.

Cheers :)

Ruby is now managing to go and do other things without following Iggy about lol (her and Boo are having a kip upstairs with my OH). There is no way they will be left unsupervised together and we're making sure the girls get lots of attention and are sticking to their usual routine so fingers crossed Rub will be bored of him soon.

Do you have a crate for the baby? Ours were crated until the big dog was happy with them and we supervised constantly until we felt it was safe to leave them alone.

Stupid iPad didn't post thistil now-tried hours ago!
