Hiya, does anyone do/has anyone done interdressage? I am thinking of doing it but am not sure on what to expect and also what are the prizes like ;) ??
If anyone who has done it can get comment i would be very greatfull :).

thanks leah.

Yer, i did it once with my old horse. I didnt come anywhere but scored 64.75%, i got a certificate for getting over 60%. This was my first ever dressage test.

I'm not sure what the prizes are (nothing too fancy i believe.) But if ur entering as a team/riding school last time i checked the prize was a set of jumps but that was for the overall winner of the year.

I only do the very basic w&t tests but i find you often get enterants on big flashy dressage horses and experienced riders entering the lower classes (ones who have clearly done plenty of dressage and entering a w&t test!!!) They normally enter on the last day of enteries too!

The feedback is excellent and i just used it as a learning curve rather than expecting to win as such.

I cant comment on the more difficult tests but i have noticed there are normally fewer entrants.

I don't personally - we show jump. But 3 people at our yard do. It seems really easy to do. the feedback is prompt and detailed. They all seem really pleased with it and one in particular is really improving on the back of the feedback she is getting.

Hi,

My daughter has been doing "Interdressage" for about 4/5 months and loves it.

She has really improved her score (starting with low 60s and currently getting high 60s, early 70s) and has been placed quite a bit (came 1st once, and won about £12 prize money I think).

I can't emphasis enough how helpful and thorough the advice and comments are - this alone is worth the entry fee. She's taken it all on board and her instructors are now working on her bending and soft outline (which form the basis of most of her critique).

More than anything, it's really taught her to ride accurately - when it says "at A" it means "at A" - not before or after! She tries hard with her circles and turns etc... and loves the "getting pony ready" bit!

I've heard that the scores can be on the high side (so when she goes out to dressage in the future, I've told her to perhaps expect a little lower) and yes, you do get the last minute entrants (usually on the classes with few competitors ;)) but I imagine you'd get that anywhere.

The other really good thing, is that there's lots of variety in the classes - last month was jumping, this month is showing, in addition to the dressage classes.

We've had nothing but positive experiences with Interdressage, so yes, definately give it a go!!

Feel free to ask (or PM?) if you want to know anything else.

It's been brilliant practice at getting ready for shows for us, and has kept Daughter and Dolly going over the winter.

Again, it's well worth doing - for the extensive comments and advice alone. Daughter's has included some exercises for her to try, to get Dolly to bend more.

:D

I have done dressage anywhere as they use bd tests, was very pleased and came second and won my entry back in cash which was great. Would use again but check video rules carefully as different sites have different rules about sound etc

Sorry to hijack, OP, but wanted to say that's really helpful. I've been looking at the site and wondered whether to try entering my two girls. They did their first dressage event (local, low key) last week and loved it, and as we don't have transport this woudl suit them well. You've persuaded me to give it a go (and who knows, I might even have a stab mysefl).:D

I did Interdressage in January, I've never done dressage as such before, and getting more into schooling my girl rather than just hacking. Really enjoyed it, and the helpful comments are well worth the entry money. Will definitely be doing it again, and will enter the Dressage Anywhere Intro tests as well, as would like to have a go at genuine BD tests :)

No problem!

Definately do it! It's been great for daughter and Dolly - and great experience for us. Dolly can sometimes be a bit excitable () but this has been a really good way of getting discipline and precision into both of them! They've loved it, and intend to continue for the foreseeable future.

Daughter has come 3rd and 4th in her classes this month, so she's pleased to be in the rosettes again (they place up to 10th place)!

And as I've said, the judges comments and advice are really really good. Worth the entry fee just for that.

I'm finding the judging quite consistent too. I'm learning to see what the judge is looking for, whereas in the early months I just couldn't see the difference between those in 1st place (you can watch everyone's videos and so see why others picked up more marks) and those in 10th place! Now I see what they're looking for.

So I've learnt too!! No rosette for me though :(

Do it! It's great! :D
