Interesting event rider names....

There was an article in H+H about Daisy Dick, a couple of years ago, she was surrounded by big daisy's (the plastic water squirting ones)
Strangly there were no pictures to depict her surname, I thought it was a little disappointing!

What a hilarious post! Totally made my afternoon and distracted me from my hangover!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who giggles at surnames like Cockburn.

The sad thing is, I have been racking my brains for funny names of Australian eventers, and I can't think of any!!! Which considering this country prides itself on giving everyone, particlarly sporting personages, strange nicknames is a bit odd. Even their normal names aren't that exciting.

Freind of mine commentates BE. She told me of a time when she was in the commentarty box with a certain Aussie with the initials SB (likes organising events) who was also doing commentary.

A french rider with the surname Bastarde went round. Referrerd to all the way round by SB as the french ba5tard

I do find it slightly odd that BE will not let you use any name for your horse other than the one on the passport, but you can call yourself anything you like!

It does seem that all the nicknames seem to belong to the ladies. Are there any men with nicknames?

Ok so they're not eventers but their names are so good it needs a mention.

A friend of my husbands from his army days is called Major Cocup. Before he was a major, he married a girl whose maiden name was Wright - They SO should have double barrelled it!

To make it even better, when they got married the vicar was drafted in at the last minute because the original one had died. The new vicar simply couldn't get teh pronunciation right and came up with all sorts of variations to avoid pronouncing it the way we all would naturally!

Chloe, there was a Don at Cambridge when my ex- was there, who rejoiced in the surname Treblecock. The 'bedders' (cleaners) all carefully pronounced this "Trebilcoe", while he proudly and defiantly pronounced it Treble-cock. we used to routinely have hysterics over this reverse-snobbery, as well as the name.

that is hilarious...my ribs are actually hurting from laughing at it

One of Piggy's sisters couldn't say 'Georgia' and kept saying 'Piggy' when she was a toddler....

I know 'Bumble' is just a family nickname, but I'm struggling to remember her real name!
