UPDATE for anyone interested.

Had the farrier come and look at Lari this afternoon as the barefoot trimmer I was recommended by a friend of a livery was too far away to visit, we were out of her zone. So my farrier kindly agreed to visit as i was keen to retain him as I'd been using him for years. He helped himself to Lari and trimmed him outside his stable as I was at work.

My Y.O was passing and got chatting to him about Lari and he said he'd discovered the remnants of three bruises, one in his near fore and two in his off fore, one which had been quite a deep seated bruise. No wonder he'd gone foot sore. Presumably the harder ground and the flinty track hadn't done him any favours but since he's been off the bute he's stayed sound and me and the staff are making a conscious effort to keep him off the flinty track until his feet have hardened.

I turned him out on his paddock tonight and he cantered off bucking and far*ING and then turned around and did a lovely extended trot down the fence line so he obviously feels even more comfortable now his feet have been balanced correctly. Such a relief.

Massive thanks to Purbee for all your advice, most appreciated. Purbee I'm sure won't mind me saying this but she detected a great deal from the photo I had uploaded and is very knowledgeable on the subject of feet.

In a way I'm glad I had the xrays and nerve block carried out even though it looks like they weren't needed after all but it's put my mind at rest that there's nothing bad going on. Didn't have my phone tonight otherwise I'd have taken some photos.

He said he had bruising in the heels, medial and lateral on the left fore and medial on the right. He said he didn't want to take much off from underneath, as he didn't want to cause or add to any trouble, but that he just chased back the small flares and tried to point them in the right direction. He also trimmed his frogs as they were overgrown, their height was an issue.

He's recommended his next trim in 6-8 weeks. 😀
