Interesting GN Build up

Really feel for Ruby. And owch as well. That's a bloody nasty fall, he was lucky to walk away from that. Scary to watch one like that :(
 
I've been keeping an eye on the Facebook h&h bashing by anti race people. I wonder why some like h&h on fb if they don't like horses in sport as it might get hurt.
 
Ruby's fall was horriffic, especially when the horse landed on him, how on earthhe walked away is beyond me.
But keeping this thread on a lighter note, a horse is an amazing athelete.
all horse horses are atheletes. Horses are designed to run, very fast from prey mostly, even your bog standard hairy cob is quite fast compared to similar animals of the same size.

Grand national is sick and cruel I think it should be banned all they horses are to these people is money and they don't care if they get hurt bloody makes me angry x

This is coming from someone who I once found beating her (young, green) pony around the head with a crop because she'd 'dared' to refuse at a show jump... :cool:

Used to occassionally ride a big full Irish Draft, he used to get all excited and prancy out in company on a hack on the grass. I'd ride him in a snaffle and a few concerned souls were worried that i wouldnt be able to stop him if he took off. Made me laugh and i'd reply, that what ever bit he was in i'd never be able to stop him if he took off, but seriously 20 strides of gallop and he would be *nackered, and return to a big full power trot, so we were going nowhere very far, or very fast!!!!! :D

Truely amazes me that people can't see what is in the mirrow when it is held up in front of them.:rolleyes:

Someone i used to know would almost throw themselves on the ground when the National cames on, beating their chest and screaming for it to be banned. Weekends would find said person hammering horse around a 1:30 SJ course on the hardest of ground, taking unbearable chances just to win a rossette....go figure!
 
I used to ride a 17.3hh ID and it was no slow coach, beleive me!
I think Nicky Henderson sounds nervous. :D
The BBC havce made a huge effort this year to explain what happens behind the scenes. Even if you are not a racing fan and don't want to watch the National, you should watch the build up. Its been very educational.

This is what is needed for the sport.

No F1? Pretty sure I watched the quali this morning :p :) I do miss GP on the beeb though. Very sad they couldn't hold on to it :(

Don't be mad at the beeb, be cross at Sky. It's sky (and to a lesser extend the other commercial terrestrial channels), with their advertising income, that drives up the price of sport so the BBC can't afford it.

I personally pay my fee for all the amazing documentaries made for BBC4. Absolutely brilliant stuff and a great use of the money they get IMHO :)
