Im am watching an old top gear and jeremy clarkson has just said the new landrover shape weighs a staggering 2.7tonnes! so if you towed with it you would technically require a lgv licence... apart from you pre 1997 guys! i didnt realise it was that heavy!

What new landy shape??? First I've come across... have you a link I can follow and see with my own eyes???

errm, no, as long as the vehicle itself is less than 3.5t and you have either a pre 97 licence or you passed a towing test, you would be fine. Now a top of the range Hummer, for example, you would need an LGV licence to just drive, never mind tow with :D as it weighs just over 4t

Oooohhhhhh a disco.... I thought you meant they'd changed THE landrover i.e. defender! You scared me then.... :D:D:D

2.7.. that does sound pretty hefty, good for towing though.

You need to be pre 1997 or pass the trailer test to tow with any car/trailer combo (other than possibly a single trailer).
Our old Disco weighs in at over 2 tonne, so would definately need a pre 1997 or trailer test to tow with it.
