I started feeding my new one this about 11/12 days ago as I suspect she has ulcers because she is a picky and dainty eater for her 16.1h size and also nibbling and mouthing at anything she can get hold of
but the last 3/4 days she is eating me out of house and home and has stopped nibbling/mouthing on everything.

I've been feeding 200ml and a huge teaspoon twice a day. Who would have thought such a small amount would make such a difference.

Unfortunately she is off to vets in the new year as vet suspects KS. I am so hoping it's just ulcers instead

Out of interest what made you think to feed it? My boy isn't eating so very interested in the theory of this? How did you feed it?

Many years ago I had a horse with a virus in October vet recommended the aloe vera juice. Each year after he would seem a little flat so would feed it again. Now every year I feed it as precaution and added the bicarb as it's great for settling the tummy.

I will be reducing the aloe vera to 100 twice a day for 10 days see if she can cope on that. Then will stop feeding it and hope she is ok
I added it to a little mix which I know she will eat

where do you get the aloe vera and bicarb? I have the baking stuff in the cupboard ;) but do you get cheaper, bigger pots?

I buy full strength aloe vera from Holland and Barratt as I want to know I am getting decent stuff without paying silly prices. I've only bought a couple of small pots of BS from chemist as don't intend to feed it long term

How did you get the aloe vera into her? It has a bitter taste, I used to give it to a dog many years ago but it was sometimes a struggle - did you syringe it?

No I mix it with the BS and pour it over her mix. With one that was fussy years ago I mixed it with apple squash or used it to soak speed beet

Our mare had a virus when she was six and needed lots of antibiotics etc - she was off for about 4 months in total. Vet suggested feeding Aloe Vera liquid to build up her immunity and it made a big difference to her recovery. She was much brighter almost immediately. I had to feed quite large quantities, about 250ml a day; she didn't mind the taste but it is seriously expensive to feed at those rates so I was pleased the insurance covered it!

I am a believer in Aloe Vera Juice for various things and have never had any problems with any of thm eating it, just mixed in a little chaff or something. I always buy from H&B, never from that Forever living group.
