In all seriousness though a 2* horse that is still competing at that level on loan is rare. Those that are available would generally be lease rather than loan or very high maintenance on the veterinary front!

Ditto this. Everyone would dream of having one of these on loan.

They are virtually impossible to buy, let alone loan. It would be a struggle to purchase a sound, reasonably sane, reasonably competitive 2* horse unless you had deep deep pockets or found yourself in a lucky situation
 
My farrier has one for sale and asking what I think is reasonable money for it but that's because we're in France and the horse is small 15.2hh and the market is smaller here. Can't say I've ever seen one for loan though!
 
I would suggest that if you don't even know where to look for a 2* event horse, that perhaps you aren't ready for one?
 
If you don't ask around it would be impossible to find one. Circumstances change and you never know what might be out there. I have lent an Advanced eventer out in the past so nothing is impossible. Some people are very kind. Our Advanced horse is out for a year. So yes we are more than ready for one.
 
I think it's fair enough to put the question out there tbh. Not everyone does want a 2* horse to ride/compete, most of them are not for your average rider after all, and circumstances do change. However, I tend to agree that any that did come available would prob. find a new rider through personal contacts rather than being offered for loan as such.
You would need to have a pretty good record at that level or above and be able to offer a very good set up, but I'm sure you know this. Good luck OP.

I think you would have to be competing, and "on the circuit" or working for an established competitor or be a pupil of the same, to hear about a horse like this. Sometimes older horses are available as schoolmasters. Everyone is looking for their next Advanced horse, and I guess that the well known riders have "spotters" all over the country looking for a rising star.
Or they produce their own from a young age.
 
Like 'hens teeth' comes to mind. I have a lovely Advanced Eventer and the years of hard work I have put into him would make me very reluctant to loan, maybe to lease yes. Have you looked for any to lease perhaps?
